Frankenmuth in Michigan -Alex

I went to Frankenmuth with my family yesterday. Frankenmuth is a German village in Michigan that was built in 1845. Frankenmuth is located northeast of Lansing and took about an hour to reach by car.

When it comes to the history of this village, German church people came here to spread Catholicism. They came with a religious purpose, not just for immigration. At first, agriculture was the main industry in this area, after 1960, it was decorated like a small Bavaria town in Germany. Since then, the village has changed into a tourist destination. Germans wanted to preserve their tradition such as religion, culture, and living style, so they followed German traditions in schools, churches, and social rules. They followed strict Lutheran lifestyle, and they used German language for a long time

When I traveled there, I felt like it was a small village in Germany. The signboards of the buildings were all in German, with English added. The buildings were in German style, and the food was all traditional German cuisine. I tried to eat German style food, so I ordered Frankenmuth Bavaria-style chicken for our lunch. It was delicious because it tasted like Korean ginseng chicken soup. Of course, I drank German beer - Hofbrau Munchen’s larger and black beer.

Although that was a short trip, I had fun. And I could feel the German vibe -Alex

Impressions of the East Lansing Art Fair

The American-style food from an American food truck, which was quite expensive and salty for me.         From Dahyeon:       I’d like to tell you something about the East Lansing Art Festival. There are so many things I’d like to share with you, but for now, I just want to tell you three of them.      First of all, I am going to introduce the core of the festival, the booths. There were a variety of booths featuring jewelry, paintings, photographs, and ceramics. There are about 135 booths, so you're likely to find one that suits your taste. In Korea, the main purpose of the artists at the festival is to sell their artworks. However, unlike in Korea, I felt that the artists at this festival had another meaningful goal — to connect and communicate with others. It was truly beautiful to see the artists talking with tourists about their work. If you want to experience meaningful conversations with artists, just come and enjoy t...

My Precious Classmate

Do you remember the first day of this semester? I definitely remember when I met each classmate for the first time. At the beginning of the semester, it was awkward to speak in English with my c My classmate lassmate b ecause they weren't Korean, and most of them were also older than me. However, as time went by, I realized that they are so kind, and I can learn many things by doing activities in our class.    First, some people are not afraid to speak English, so they started conversation naturally to me. For example, Suguru and I usually arrived at school early, and from the start of the semester, he would always initiate conversations in a gentle, non-intimidating way. Even though it was a really simple question, I could develop my English-speaking skills and gain confidence. Thanks to him , my fear of speaking English gradually faded. Now, I can st art a conversation first with my classmate !     Second, when we learned about histroy, and polit...
