Michigan History Museum Trip

As a part of our class this week, w took a trip to the Michigan History Museum in Lansing. We were originally planning to go there on Monday, but we found out it was closed that dayso the visit was moved to Tuesday. It was my first time visiting the museum, and I was honestly surprised how big and detailed it was. The building has three floors, and each one takes you through a different time period in Michigan’s history. The higher you go, the more recent the exhibits become, which make you feel like walking through time.

50s Chevrolet Corvett

What I was the most excited was the third floor, which focus on modern life in Michigan. I especially enjoyed learning about how Michigan played a big role in industry during and after World War. There were machines and equipment that showed the state’s contribution to the war effort, but what really caught my eye were the everyday items like dishes, furniture, and even kitchen setups. It gave me a glimpse into how ordinary Michiganders lived back then, which made the history feel more personal and real. Besides that, there were also fascinating exhibits on Native American life, early mining communities, and the tough lives of lumberjacks. There was so much to take in, and every corner of the museum had something new to offer.

Visiting the Michigan History Museum made me realize how important it is to learn about theplace you live in, especially while studying abroad. As someone currentlyliving in Michigan, understanding its past helps me feel more connected to thepeople and culture around me. I left the museum not just with new knowledge, but with a deeper appreciation for this unique state.

Impressions of the East Lansing Art Fair

The American-style food from an American food truck, which was quite expensive and salty for me.         From Dahyeon:       I’d like to tell you something about the East Lansing Art Festival. There are so many things I’d like to share with you, but for now, I just want to tell you three of them.      First of all, I am going to introduce the core of the festival, the booths. There were a variety of booths featuring jewelry, paintings, photographs, and ceramics. There are about 135 booths, so you're likely to find one that suits your taste. In Korea, the main purpose of the artists at the festival is to sell their artworks. However, unlike in Korea, I felt that the artists at this festival had another meaningful goal — to connect and communicate with others. It was truly beautiful to see the artists talking with tourists about their work. If you want to experience meaningful conversations with artists, just come and enjoy t...

My Precious Classmate

Do you remember the first day of this semester? I definitely remember when I met each classmate for the first time. At the beginning of the semester, it was awkward to speak in English with my c My classmate lassmate b ecause they weren't Korean, and most of them were also older than me. However, as time went by, I realized that they are so kind, and I can learn many things by doing activities in our class.    First, some people are not afraid to speak English, so they started conversation naturally to me. For example, Suguru and I usually arrived at school early, and from the start of the semester, he would always initiate conversations in a gentle, non-intimidating way. Even though it was a really simple question, I could develop my English-speaking skills and gain confidence. Thanks to him , my fear of speaking English gradually faded. Now, I can st art a conversation first with my classmate !     Second, when we learned about histroy, and polit...
