My First New York

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to visit New York City by accompanying my aunt on her business trip. As soon as I arrived in New York, I was struck by the energy of the city. I could see a lot of people, countless high buildings, and many cars honking their horns. Everything felt fast-paced and full of life. I was my first time in New York, so I was really excited to feel the unique rhythm of the city.

During the trip, I visited many landmarks in New York such as the Statue of Liberty, MOMA museum, and Top of the Rock. When I saw the Statue of Liberty, which I usually see in textbook or TV, I was deeply impressed. I was overwhelmed by the huge size of the statue. Next, I have never seen famous paintings, and on this trip, I finally saw The Starry Night by Van Gogh in person at the MOMA museum. But I had seen so many replicas, so it didn’t feel special anymore. One of my favorite moments was visiting the Top of the Rock - you can see all of New York spread out beneath you including the Empire State Building, Central Park, and more. While I walked around New York, I thought this city is really beautiful. However, when I visited Top of the Rock and I looked down at whole city from that building, I realized I cannot explain my emotion just using the word ‘beautiful. It was so much more than just beautiful and I admired the skyline from the Top of the Rock.

At first, I was worried about my trip because I had to travel alone. Even though I traveled alone, I was having so much fun that I didn’t even have time to feel lonely. I met so many kind people who came from all around the world. I could finish my first New York trip because they helped me when I had trouble sometimes. I felt like I was not just visiting but also truly experiencing the heart of the city. I hope I can go back someday and discover even more.

Impressions of the East Lansing Art Fair

The American-style food from an American food truck, which was quite expensive and salty for me.         From Dahyeon:       I’d like to tell you something about the East Lansing Art Festival. There are so many things I’d like to share with you, but for now, I just want to tell you three of them.      First of all, I am going to introduce the core of the festival, the booths. There were a variety of booths featuring jewelry, paintings, photographs, and ceramics. There are about 135 booths, so you're likely to find one that suits your taste. In Korea, the main purpose of the artists at the festival is to sell their artworks. However, unlike in Korea, I felt that the artists at this festival had another meaningful goal — to connect and communicate with others. It was truly beautiful to see the artists talking with tourists about their work. If you want to experience meaningful conversations with artists, just come and enjoy t...

Michigan State Capitol

Do you know that each state in the U.S has its own capitol building , unlike in Korea? In Korea, there is only one National Assembly building in the capital, Seoul. However, In the United States, each state has its own state capitol. This is quite an interesting fact to Koreans. So, I would like to explain you about the capitol of Michigan State in two parts : architectural features and political function and role.      The first thing you can see is the exterior of the building. The Michigan State Capitol features a neoclassical exterior with a large dome and elegant design. It makes you think that it looks like a Medieval European building. Then, if you go inside the building, you can see so many sophisticated rooms. The interior of the Michigan State Capitol is organized by a central rotunda, with richly decorated chambers, historic murals, and elegant staircases radiating outward from the center. Th is kind of interior features ornate 19th-century...
